Why has it taken me so long to write about Zesto? I don't know, it just sems like one of those places that has always been here and always will be. Zesto is one of the first places I ate at in Atlanta. Not only was the fried chicken excellent, but the lady who served it to me was very motherly. Gabe Loh tells me that Zesto started out as a national chain that went belly up. The Atlanta restaurants are the local remnant. There are other survivors in different cities, each having evolved independently into their own species.
Our Zesto chain has a much larger menu than one sees in the big chain fast food places: nachos, wings, burgers, fried chicken. On this visit, I had the wings, which came with all the appropriate accompaniments. They are plenty spicy---I had to wash off my face in the rest room to get rid of the sting. On other visits, I've had the burgers, fried chicken, and some excellent onion rings, but I still haven't made it through the whole menu. That's a long term goal of mine.
